Brooke Sinnes

I am the owner of Sincere Sheep where I have been in business almost 20 years. I taught myself how to knit and crochet when I was about 10 years old and took my first weaving class the summer between high school and college at Kansas City Art Institute. After graduating college I moved back to the Bay Area and took more weaving classes. That led to taking both spinning and natural dyeing classes and generally falling down the rabbit hole hard. It was out of the experiences in these classes that I started Sincere Sheep. During this time the Slow Food movement was really taking off and I saw direct parallels between it and textiles - especially naturally dyed, breed specific, single origin fibers. I also believed that all this could be used to help support local fiber farmers and mills. Fast forward 20 years I’m still here trying to challenge people’s perceptions of what natural dyes look like while supporting domestic fiber farmers and textile mills.
