Luxury fibers, while pricey, can pack a big punch when blended in small quantities with wool/alpaca bases. Students will explore what effect mohair, silk, alpaca, and other luxury fibers have on color, durability, insular properties, luster, and drape of yarn and cloth. Proper handling of fibers on the drum carder, what difference a fine wool vs a long wool can make in a blend, and record keeping will also be emphasized.
