Weaving uses color theory differently than knitting and crochet. In weaving colors act like pixels on a screen, blending and merging with sometimes perplexing results. However, in knitting and crochet the colors remain visibly separate in the finished project.

This class will introduce color in weave and how to plan your dyed fiber to create handspun yarn that will produce exciting results in your woven projects. We will discuss how color theory in weaving is more flexible than knitting and crochet, how gradient spins impact the look of woven items, and how to use color gamps to experiment with colors before a big project.

Students will spin yarn for weft and work on pin looms to understand color blending in woven fabric.

Materials fee: $50 for pinloom and fiber, $15 if you bring your own pin loom
